Fab Friday: Issey Miyake, Miyake Issei

Friday, 29 July 2011
This week's Fab Friday is all about Japanese fashion designer Miyake Issei, the man behind the brand Issey Miyake.

One of the world's most innovative fashion designers, he created designs that are traditional yet contemporary, blending the west and east together.

Constantly experimenting with new fabrics, Miyake introduced garment pleating in his 1993 collection 'Pleats Please' after five years of research. Using single pieces of 100% polyester fabric, it was first cut and sewn then pleated. Rather than the usual method of pleated and then cut and sewn.
The fabric was then heat pressed between two sheets of paper to create a permanent pleat that made the clothes flexible, light and easy to care for.

Although an Issey Miyake pleated skirt will probably make you a few hundred pounds poorer, but no worries, you can have a bit of Issey Miyake in a bottle...perfume that is.

Fab Friday: Jason Wu's Fall 2011 Accessories Collection

Friday, 22 July 2011
Happy Friday everyone, the favourite day of the week has arrived! The weekend should start in style. Lust over Jason Wu's accessories collection, his first accessories line created in September last year for Spring 2011.
The Fall 2011 collection has a wider range of choices compared to his SS11 collection, but still keeping with the clean, simple designs.

Since summer for us here in the UK is pretty much non-existent right now, it doesn't feel so wrong looking at Autumn styles.

Jason Wu's Fall 2011 accessories collection is elegant and classic. The palette of colours includes rich auburn red, metallics, mustard, black and many more.

Every item has a name, I wonder if there will be one named Cindy one day...

Auburn red is a favourite colour of autumn, you could try this colour on your lips or nails too.

Metallic is huge for AW11, it's a hard trend to pull off head-to-toe but try with accessories first.

 Editor's note:
Again, I've fallen back into the blogging once a week habit! Considering I've had so much going on recently in terms of writing, being able to blog once a week is pretty good.
Thanks to all my readers in the meantime for dropping by, and especially to those who leave lovely comments (I do visit every blog, eventually)! xoxo

Fab Friday: Bring out your Star Style

Friday, 15 July 2011
Stars are one the favourite prints this season, and it will be here to stay for next season too. Dolce & Gabbana had stars parading their A/W11 catwalks. From gorgeous floor-sweeping flowing dresses to above-the-knee tight fitted ones. Even earrings were stars, I'm seeing stars everywhere...what's your take on the trend?

Head to toe stars works best with dresses as oppose to separates.

Socks and shoes have been a real hit for two seasons now.

Sheer fabrics are divine for summer's heat.

Fab Friday: Keep it Skinny

Friday, 8 July 2011
Size zero is never fashionable, not in my books anyway. Obviously, there are some people who are naturally a size zero. I myself nearly got to that point a few years ago during a trip to China, although I was told I didn't look it at all. Staying in a countryside and sweating non-stop will make anyone lose weight.

The only skinny that's fashionable right now are skinny belts. I remember seeing them all over the SS11 catwalk and again for AW11.

Why not add a skinny belt to a loose knit.

Tie a loose knot with your skinny belt to make it more interesting.

Fab Friday: Summer Accessories

Friday, 1 July 2011
Absolutely glorious day today, this makes for some gorgeous summer accessories (although I think cloud is building up, but what the hell). I've always had a bit of a weird relationship with accessories, sometimes I'll pile them on, other times I go without any for days!

When summer comes around I become even more lazy, just get up and go, I never give myself time to think about accessories. If my hair is down I don't even bother with earrings, when it's up I can only be bothered to put on one pair, even though I have five piercings! Very lazy, I know.

This summer I've got to change. I need to make use of my bangles, necklaces and those earrings sitting in my jewellery pot. I should have taken a photo of my collection. For now, take a look at these lovely pieces...I have given myself a two month shopping ban starting from today! I did way too much shopping in June, lets hope I can keep up...
Biba Peacock Ring; Accessorize £7 NOW £3.50
Sometimes a statement ring is all it takes to add some oomph to an outfit.
Bouquet Gardening Brooch; Accessorize £9.00 NOW £4.50
I've always been more attracted to quirky jewellery. How cute is this gardening brooch!
Time For Tea Brooch; Accessorize £9.00 NOW £4.50
A tea set brooch, the Royal Wedding has brought out the British in everyone!
Pouch Key Necklace; Topshop £10
A key pendant necklace is still popular as ever.
Large Lipstick Pendant; Danielle Scutt for Topshop £16.50
Team this long necklace with a plain top to let your necklace do the talking!
Peacock and Gem Earrings; Topshop £12.50
Peacock style feathers were seen on the A/W11 catwalks, so get ahead in the style stakes with one now.

In the midst of all these summer sales, it's a bloody great time for me to be banning myself from shopping eh?!
