If you get one dress this season, make sure it's a 60's shift dress. Retro styles is a hit on the runway with the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Prada and Alberta Ferri sending their models down their AW11 catwalk in shift dresses.
If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know that I received something from the lovely people at
Very.co.uk. I can now reveal it was a 60's shift dress from their Love Label range. Initially it looked huge for a size 10, but once worn, the fit was perfect. Apologies about my rubbish pictures...I haven't got my pro Canon with me, blackberry will have to do!
Love Label Spotty Shift Dress £39
The true colour of the dress is cream/black, although in my shots the cream looks gold, and in their image it looks white!
Definitely an autumn/winter dress due to the thicker fabric (almost tweed). Best worn without any accessories as the patterns are so 'busy'. It's elegant but not old lady style, classic yet modern.
Wear with flats for daytime chic, add killer heels for party night. What's more, I actually had a comment from a male colleague yesterday (in his 50's, not a fashion man) asking if the dress is over £100, and in his words "it's actually a very nice dress"! Shocking...not about the dress, but coming from him!? Now that has to mean the dress is a winner.
I do have a little problem though; the heavy fabric weighs the dress down (great when it's windy) but when I sit down I look pregnant!
Overall? A fantastic addition to my wardrobe, I see myself wearing this to death thanks to the cooler weather.
